A New Source of Energy
Throughout human history, humans have sought energy to drive their societies forward. It is one of the fundamental creative tools we use to make things, move things, heat things, and cool them down.
With each successive generation, it seems our demand for energy only goes up. While innovation has allowed us to extend the life of fixed resource energy sources like fossil fuels, we are already at the point where we need to look ahead to inexhaustible, renewable energy resources.
This leads us to ask the question what is preventing us from harnessing all of the different forms of energy available from oceans?
What are the forms of energy available to use from the ocean?
Can that energy be harvested at a cost competitive level?
Can the structures built to capture the energy be serviced and survive the ocean environment?
Can all of this be done without material damage to ocean ecosystems?
What economic and regulatory infrastructure is needed around ocean energy to ensure the sector thrives?
